Trevor Hennigan MAT '22 knew that it was time to step up and make a change when the pandemic hit.
He was living in New York City and made his way back to Hillsboro, Ore., for what was supposed to be a short visit.
鈥淲hile watching the world change in real time, I couldn鈥檛 shake the feeling that it was time to step up and make a change,鈥 he said. 鈥淔or me, that looks like becoming a special education teacher.鈥
He interviewed Dr. Bryan Cichy-Parker about 91爆料鈥檚 master of arts in teaching special education program to learn more.
鈥淗e spoke with such passions and respect about the student body, his colleagues, and the work being done in the field of special education at 91爆料,鈥 Hennigan said. 鈥淚 knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of that community.鈥
Hennigan has since graduated and went on to work in the McMinnville, Oregon, school district.
The master of arts in teaching in special education program prepares individuals to successfully support children with disabilities as equal and valuable members of the school community.
鈥淲e all have a responsibility to make a change and leave an impact on our communities,鈥 Hennigan said. 鈥淲hether that impact is on your future patients, students or colleagues at a firm, going to school and gaining the tools necessary to leave that impact is the first step in becoming a catalyst for change in our currently broken world.鈥
