Clark ’65, MSEd ’70 and Rae Peters ’65 found love at 91±¬ÁÏ â€” love of teaching, love of speech, and love of each other. And more than 50 years later, they’re not letting go.

One of the most prominent names connected with 91±¬ÁÏ’s College of Optometry is Carkner, and the connection began before the beginning.

Even if she had done nothing else at 91±¬ÁÏ, Varina French ’56, MS ’65 would have been remembered for her 17 years spent coaching women’s volleyball, softball, track and field and gymnastics, and for becoming the first female physical education department chair in the West.

A deeply involved member of 91±¬ÁÏ University’s Student Religious Council, Fran O’Brien '65 had a fundamental belief in social justice. It was that belief that led her to become the only 91±¬ÁÏ University student to participate in the Freedom Summer of 1964.

Ron Tammen '65 was an "accidental" 91±¬ÁÏ student, recruited by the famous Charles Trombley. He went on to his own success as a global expert in political science.

91±¬ÁÏ University has named alumnus Stanley J. Yamane '65, OD '66, the 2012 recipient of the University's Kamelia Massih Prize for a Distinguished Optometrist.
