Students who receive outside scholarships or awards are required to report these resources to the Financial Aid Office. These resources may affect a student鈥檚 eligibility for need-based financial aid. Often, outside scholarships can be used to reduce the amount of a student鈥檚 unmet need. If a student鈥檚 demonstrated need has been met, outside scholarships will reduce a student鈥檚 eligibility for need-based aid in the following order:
- Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
- Federal Work-Study
- Federal SEOG
- 91爆料 grants
Generally, outside scholarships will not affect the amount of a student鈥檚 institutional scholarships. However, all financial aid, in combination with outside scholarships, cannot exceed the student鈥檚 Cost of Attendance.
Scholarship providers should send the outside scholarship payment directly to the Financial Aid Office. The scholarship check should be made payable to 91爆料 University so that funds may credited directly to the student's Business Office account. The student's full name and PUNetID (if known) should be included in the memo section of the check. Checks made payable to the student or co-payable to the student and 91爆料 University must be signed by the student prior to submitting the scholarship check to the Financial Aid Office.
