Fall Courses 2025 

In Fall 2025, group and orchestra classes will be temporarily suspended when Dr. Ihas is on sabbatical until January 2026.

To accommodate the educational needs of our students, we will be offering small group and individual lessons. For more information, see below.

Registration and payment deadline

Registration is open now through September 15, 2025.
Concert date: First week of December 1, 2025 

Small Group Classes

We will be offering small group lessons with up to three students who play the same instrument and are at the same level of playing. Lessons will be 45 minutes long and will take place once a week. Students will have opportunities to show off their progress in the concert scheduled in the first week of December. 

Small Group Lessons: Level I

: Small Group Class Level I
These group classes are designed for students who were enrolled in our “Beginning Group” classes in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We will be able to offer up to 4 Small Group Classes for Level I for a total of 12 students.

: Small Group Class Level I
These group classes are designed for students who were enrolled in our “Beginning Group” classes in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We will be able to offer up to 2 Small Group Classes for Level I for a total of 6 students.

: Small Group Class Level I
These group classes are designed for students who were enrolled in our “Beginning Group” classes in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We will be able to offer 1 Small Group Classes for Level I for a total of 3 students.

Small Group Lessons: Level II  

: Small Group Class Level II 
These group classes are designed for students who were enrolled in our “Intermediate Group” classes in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We will be able to offer up to 2 Small Group Lessons at level II for a total of 6 students. 

: Small Group Class Level II 
Thes group clases are designed for students who were enrolled in our “Intermediate Group” classes in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We will be able to offer up to 1 Small Group Lesson at level II for a total of 3 students. 

: Small Group Class Level II 
These group classes are designed for students who were enrolled in our “Intermediate Group” classes in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We will be able to offer 1 Small Group Lessons at level II for a total of 3 students.

Fee per Student: $125 (10 lessons/45 minutes per lesson) 

Beginning Class
Classes will resume in the Spring 2026 semester, with registration opening in mid-November 2025.

Intermediate Class
Classes will resume in the Spring 2026 semester, with registration opening in mid-November 2025.

Sinfonietta
Classes will resume in the Spring 2026 semester, with registration opening in mid-November 2025.

Private Lessons

Private lessons will resume in the Spring 2026 semester, with registration opening in mid-November 2025.

Fees:
30-minute lessons: $150 for package of 10
45-minute lessons: $225 for package of 10
60-minute lessons: $300 for package of 10

Beginning Guitar Group Class
Classes will resume in the Spring 2026 semester, with registration opening in mid-November 2025.

Intermediate Guitar Group Class
Classes will resume in the Spring 2026 semester, with registration opening in mid-November 2025.

Small group lessons will start on September 15 and will go for 10 consecutive weeks, until November 21. The week of Thanksgiving will be used for makeup classes (if needed) and the concert will take place during the first week of December.

• Improving the quality of string teachers’ preparation through integrated learning.
• Providing quality and affordable string education to school-age students of all socio-economic and racial backgrounds.
• Enhancing the quality of life in the community.

For Our Students and Parents

Students in second through 12th grade learn how to play string instruments, including the violin, viola, cello, and double bass, from our teachers-in-preparation and our master teacher. Students receive instruction in small and large group classes, orchestras, and/or in semi-individual and individual lessons. Each meeting for two 50-minute classes each week for 10 weeks will enable students to progress from beginning to intermediate and advanced levels of playing. Each semester, students perform in two public performances.

We offer numerous ways for our students to grow as musicians such as:

• Various Levels of Orchestra
• Private Lessons
• Chamber Ensembles

For Our Teachers

The teachers in String Project are college students who are interested in learning how to teach stringed instruments to younger students. Student-teachers in the String Project take pedagogy classes and meet regularly with master teachers, who supervises and advises their weekly classes. They are actively involved in recruitment and communication with parents, and they help plan public performances each semester.

Students are paid for their preparation and teaching time, and they develop experience and expertise in teaching music in learning environments that mimic public school string classes. The String Project at 91���� University is open to ALL students who are playing in the 91���� Philharmonic Orchestra regardless of major/minor.
